Solar Power Home Heating
Solar power home heating comes into forms and which again are dependent on the prevailing weather patterns. In temperate areas, solar power heating is used for air conditioning of homes during winters. These times of the year are extremely challenging to people living in temperate zones and require a lot of heating. Tropical areas do not particularly need room air conditioning except for selected humid or desert areas which in any case have abundant sunlight and their problem is how to cool it.
Solar power water heating systems are required in every part of the world for shower systems. While in some parts of the world you may not need warm water during the day, the mornings and evenings in the same places may be so called that bathing with cold water predisposes one to such illnesses as pneumonia. It is also a very unpleasant experience which may cause some to abandon the idea of showering in the morning. It is this situation that solar power home heating system seek to solve.
Extremely cold temperatures demand greater insulation for effective solar power home heating. It is due to such reasons that passive solar ventilators are installed. Solar water heater tanks in extremely cold temperatures also require greater insulation than those used in tropical climates. The additional challenge for solar power home heating in temperate areas is to provide systems that store energy or warmth much longer because the strength of solar power diminishes during winter. It means that systems used in such environment should be highly efficient to require very little solar energy to do more work and must also conserve the energy much longer. This is quite different from the tropical regions where storage is not a big issue because there is sufficient sunlight and you are sure of it almost every day.
Solar power home heating devices have high initial costs but very little running costs. Cleaning solar panels is one thing that needs be done regularly to ensure that their ability to receive sunlight is not hindered. Dust and dirt which may accumulate on solar panels given that the solar panels are always exposed on roof tops or such other open places may impede their ability to absorb energy efficiently without overloading the entire system to do more work. This should work towards making solar energy a more reliable and cost effective source of energy for heating our homes.
